In 1994, New York City archaeologist Elena Santos (Dominique Fishback) discovers a relic that leads her to a group of Transformers known as the Maximals. The Terrorcons are seeking a powerful weapon known as the Transwarp Key, which can open portals to other worlds. If the Terrorcons get their hands on the Transwarp Key, they could unleash a devastating force on Earth.

The Maximals must team up with the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), to stop the Terrorcons and prevent them from getting the Transwarp Key. The fate of Earth hangs in the balance.
